Transporting goods via container shipping and haulage are very susceptible to theft,
corruption, hijacking and organised crime. However goods which have a high value,
are always in demand and can be sold on quickly and thus will have an even higher
risk attached to them. The longer the journey the higher the risk to your assets
and goods especially to well organised and proficient criminal gangs who target
theses types of shipments for the black market. Importing and exporting goods of
this nature increases risk as you travel across boarders with varying police control,
criminal levels/activities and known transport routes.
The security of your container cannot be guaranteed and you may not find out if
it’s been breached until it’s too late. The same applies for assets and goods in
haulage lorries; it’s been proven that the driver and locks are simply not enough
to prevent theft or robbery.
CONTROL AND TRACKING – SHIPPING AND CONTAINERS
If required, use a device in each pallet, one in the container door and one in the
lorry (when applicable). This will show you when the container is ever opened, when
each individual pallet is moved and if they leave the back of the lorry transporting
them.
